UPDATE: August 2015
The Dubuque Fighting Saints have hired Jordan Kuhns as the club’s new Broadcasting and Media Relations Coordinator. Kuhns, 25, will serve as the “Voice of the Fighting Saints” and takes over the microphone from Zack Fisch who accepted a position with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL earlier this week.
“Jordan’s background and experience makes him a great fit for our organization,” said Matt Rau, Vice President of Business Operations. “His passion for the game of hockey is very apparent in everything that he does both on and off the microphone. We are excited to welcome Jordan to the team and the City of Dubuque.”
The Harleysville, PA native brings a vast broadcast background to the Fighting Saints including stints in college and professional hockey. A 2012 graduate of Millersville University, Kuhns launched coverage of the school’s ACHA hockey games in 2009, and provided play-by-play at the school through 2014. In addition to calling hockey games at Millersville, Kuhns also helped pioneer the Marauder Sports Broadcasting Network, lending his voice to the school’s football, field hockey, basketball, baseball and softball broadcasts.
“I am extraordinarily excited to join the Dubuque Fighting Saints,” said Kuhns. “The rich tradition of excellence of which this organization prides itself on is outstanding. I can’t wait to be part of the team. I would like to thank Matt Rau, Zack Fisch, and the rest of the Fighting Saints organization for allowing me to continue the tradition here in Dubuque.”
Kuhns served as a Production Intern with the Reading Royals of the ECHL in 2011, assisting with video and promotions for the club. His time in Reading also allowed him the opportunity to call ECHL games to help gain experience. Kuhns has been a credentialed press member with many professional teams, including the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Hersey Bears of the AHL, in addition to the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers. His time in professional hockey press boxes has allowed him to refine his play-by-play and writing skills.
Kuhns most recently served as the Director of Broadcasting/Media Relations for the Lexington County (South Carolina) Blowfish Baseball Club in the Coastal Plain Baseball League. With the Blowfish, Kuhns called all 56 games, handled the team’s media relations and social media accounts, and assisted with ticket sales. He also garnered CPL Broadcaster of the Year honors.
Kuhns also spent time with Talk Radio Williamsport, covering Misericordia University athletics.
“We are excited to welcome Jordan Kuhns to the Dubuque Fighting Saints,” said Fisch. “I was fortunate to be part of the hiring process, and Jordan was someone that we quickly indentified as a top candidate once we listened to his work. He has a fantastic voice, and I think our fans will really enjoy his work. I’m excited to pass the microphone to him going forward.”
Kuhns will arrive in Dubuque next week and will call his first game on September 4 when Dubuque opens the preseason at the Mystique Community Ice Center against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Kuhns will call all preseason, regular season and postseason Fighting Saints games on the airwaves of radio partner KIYX, Dubuque’s Super Hits 106. He will also handle the club’s media relations, oversee social media and the team website and assist with season and group ticket sales.
“I’m looking forward to serving this community in Dubuque, and it will be a genuine thrill to tell the story of this team beginning on September 4,” said Kuhns. “The USHL holds a significant position as the top developmental league in the United States. I have heard of the tremendous talent in this league and I can’t wait to bring the excitement of that talent to our spectacular fans.”
Fox Sports Radio Williamsport is proud to announce the addition of Jordan Kuhns as the play-by-play voice of Misericordia University football and Men’s and Women’s basketball.
Jordan Kuhns joined the Talk Radio Williamsport team in August 2014 for the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional and will now serve as the new voice of the Misericordia Cougars.
He started his broadcasting career at his alma mater, Millersville University, graduating cum laude with a degree in Speech Communication in 2012. Kuhns provided play-by-play and color commentary for Millersville football, soccer, field hockey, basketball, baseball and softball on the Marauder Sports Broadcasting Network for four seasons. He also founded the first-ever broadcasts of Millersville ice hockey games, serving as the team’s media director and broadcaster for four seasons.
As a decorated member of the National Broadcasting Society, Kuhns garnered seven awards for his work in national and regional media competitions. He has also earned the organization’s highest honor as a member of its honors society, Alpha Epsilon Rho.
Kuhns has also served as a play-by-play broadcaster of Lancaster-Lebanon League sports on Blue Ridge Cable 11 in Ephrata, Pa. Over the past six summers, Kuhns has been teaching future broadcasters as a camp counselor at Sports Broadcasting Camp. As a student at Millersville, he worked as an intern at ABC 27 under the direction of Harrisburg sports legend Gregg Mace, and with the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
