WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men’s soccer team is off to their best start since the 2015 season when the team started 3-0, after defeating McDaniel College Saturday afternoon 3-1 in the home opener.  The Hornets (2-0) got a pair of late goals in the second half to break the 1-1 deadlock.  First, it was first-year Nick Mattiace in the 76th minute and then Kyle Welch scored his second in the 87th minute before the game was called due to weather.  Statistically, the Hornets out possessed, out shot, and had the edge on corner kicks over the Green Terror.  Gianncarlo Alderetes got the start in the net for Shenandoah and made one save, only giving up the one goal in the weather-shortened contest.
